Leslee Ann Petersen attended North Carolina State University with the original desire to go into Biology but between Organic Chemistry classes (boo!) and strong feelings for mental health advocacy she switched into Psychology. Leslee flourished in Psychology where she threw her soul, time, and energy into activist and advocate roles ranging from leading the NAMI On Campus group to volunteering at the local domestic violence shelter on their crisis lines.
After her time in university, Leslee has become an eclectic entrepreneur with projects in social media marketing, a non-profit to help loved ones find missing persons, and (still under construction) a libertarian dating site.
Throughout the years, Leslee has spoken at events like Porcfest and Liberty Liberty Festival and NAMI NC’s Annual Conference. Leslee is trained in suicide intervention and prevention, mental health first aid, and peer support. She is a certified In Our Own Voice presenter with NAMI NC and has spoken to schools and clubs throughout her state of North Carolina. You can find a list of her available topics here: Public Speaking
